A long time ago, I made a post on this topic. It was in dire need of a rewrite, and since this fits so well with the theme for Xillia Week's Day 1 (spirits/beliefs), I thought now was a good time to do it!

As a world that mostly revolves around spirits, it comes to no surprise that Rieze Maxia’s cults and legends are also heavily spirit-based. The countries of Rashugal and Auj Oule do not have an organized religion—rather, towns and regions have their own myths and traditions, some shared, some not.

This post will examine the various beliefs and customs of the Rieze Maxian people, with a few notes about Elympios when relevant.

Long Dau is the court language of Long Dau nobility and Wingul’s mother tongue. It is an oral language without a writing system, though there exists a dictionary in circulation, most likely written out phonetically in Rieze Maxian. Only the elite of the Long Dau tribe are allowed to speak it, but Gaius has learned the language thanks to Wingul. Rowen has also studied some of it when he was young. They are the only ones who can still speak it.

The Basics

Elympios and Rieze Maxia follow two different dating systems. Elympios’s timeline is called “Primia” and is currently in the year 4305 as of Tales of Xillia 2. Rieze Maxia’s timeline is called “Trames” and is currently in the year 2294 as of Tales of Xillia 2 (Tales of Xillia took place in Trames 2293).

A year in Rieze Maxia has 336 days. As both countries are part of the same planet despite their isolation, we can assume that this is the case for Elympios as well. Elements explained below hint at Elympios having at least twelve months. We can therefore deduce that both places operate with a calendar of 12 months of 28 days each.
